WHAT IS ZERO TREE PACKAGING

Packaging made from crop waste

Zero tree packaging is a revolutionary new solution that offers a promising alternative to traditional paper options. The traditional process of making paper and cardboard involves cutting down virgin trees and creating a mulch which is the basis for the process.

RAW replaces the virgin wood with agricultural crop waste such as wheat and sugar cane bagasse. By doing this, the process completely eliminates the need for trees and uses a material that would otherwise be going to waste.

Sustainable Managed Forests, exemplified by FSC, stand as integral components of the paper and packaging industry. In alignment with these organisations’ endeavors to ensure a sustainable future for generations, we’ve dedicated investments toward alternative fibers. This commitment aims to reduce wood consumption and further contribute to a more eco-conscious approach.

THE SOLUTION

What if packaging could be manufactured to offer the exact same quality, strength and appearance of corrugated board but without using any trees at all? Our RAW packaging range is just that.

The paper is made using agricultural waste and reduces carbon emissions by 28% compared to virgin paper and 7% compared to European paper. The launch of RAW is a refreshing and invigorating step towards sustainability.

We believe in using innovative, environmentally responsible products to help businesses reach their sustainability goals and reduce illegal deforestation.

How it’s made

RAW Packaging is made in the exact same way as traditional, wood-based packaging. Except it uses less energy, reuses waste that would otherwise have been incinerated or put into landfill.

Although we are reusing waste, the fibres still act as virgin. This means that our crop waste packaging is in fact stronger than recycled packaging, in some cases almost double.
